Camp Spot Macauley Valley

As usual it has been a while since I have posted but the last few months have been hectic including the day job and trying to fit in as many adventures as I can around it while even trying to retain some family life as well.. Too many hobbies and not enough time.

Ski Season is almost over and slowly transitioning back into bikes but before that happened we tried to tick off a few skiing missions we had had planned for a while. One was to head up Mt Sibbald in behind Tekapo in NZ.

Pre mission up to Mt Sibbald
Starting the Tour

We four wheel drove up the Macauley valley and walked to our campsite then toured up and got some nice shaded wind-blown powder!

Cutting some turns

Amazing mission in some amazing country – and there are a couple more images below from some other miscellaneous missions around the Canterbury Club fields and Queenstown for your viewing pleasure

And finally just a little video testing out the GoPro Hero 7 – the hyper smooth function is amazing No more gimbal needed which cuts down on the gear I need to carry. Check out the video below , riding the new tracks at the Christchurch Adventure park.

August Update

Its been a bit slow on the updates as I have been doing some different commercial work which I can’t post yet! In the meantime here are some shots from a few sunrise missions we have been on to snag some NZ powder goods. Mt Olympus aka the playground of the gods put it on for an epic powder day.

Bit of a test of the Peak Designs Capture Plate while enjoying the snow at Mt Olympus.

Checking out the recently revamped step up at the local bikes trails when they were finally dry enough to ride, I got the flashes out and took a couple of MTB shots. Was good to get some external lighting out as I haven’t shot that style of photo for a while.

May Update

Its been a month or so since we last posted but we have had a busy month and the weather is starting to change to winter here in NZ so the bike content will slow down for a bit.

Major project for the month was filming a new video for the Christchurch Adventure Park to showcase how much of an epic spot they have there!

Check it out below:

We also went and shot a pile of photos up there as my bike has been broken!

Check them out below:

Last but not least as I mentioned earlier in this post the weather is changing and winter is kicking in, so we ventured out for a look and got some powdery goodness. There is only one photo from the day as it was to good to stop but check it below:

Josh Clarke Vic Park 2018

The weather is flipping here in New Zealand, with winter starting to get its icy grip on the Southern Hemisphere. The wind was wild today, but the tracks had dried out a little so Josh Clarke and I decided to stick in the trees and film a small edit of him in Vic Park. Smooth and dialled through the interesting conditions down one of the OG trails in Vic Park, semi greasy and semi grippy at the same time.

Secret Dog Society – Vic Park Jersey

Victoria Park has always been there for us, we remember spending many hours of our lives there. We remember the downhill shuttles and late night digging. We remember hanging with friends and clowning around. We remember all the good times.  Even when new and shiny chairlift options come, go and will eventually come back again, Victoria Park will always be there for us because it will always belong to us. Since the fires that ripped through the Port Hills and removed Christchurch Adventure Park, Victoria Park has seen a lot of new “bike park” inspired traffic again. To meet this demand, the idea is to convert “Cool Runnings” into a graded blue jump track and clean up some of the trees and other tracks in the area. To help with some of the associated cost that comes with this, we can fundraise some money to go towards the digger and other costs associated with a build. That is why Secret Dog Society wants to help!

Secret Dog Society - Vic Park Jersey

Secret Dog Society are stoked to team up with Gravity Canterbury and Texco to create the Vic Park Jersey.  These high-quality jerseys are made in New Zealand and come in long sleeves.  Available in two Canterbury inspired colourways, Black or Red with stripped linework and helping to show your support to the park with a fashionable Victoria Park logo running down the left arm. For every jersey sold, we will donate $20 to Gravity Canterbury to help with the build and any other maintenance that needs to be done.  But, for those that want a more custom feel, you can put your name and/or number on the back of the jersey for only $10 more and we will also donate this $10 to the cause. That means we will be able to donate $20 to $30 per jersey sold.

You can buy these jerseys at Secret Dog Society

How this promotion will work:

All jerseys will be made to order and because of the large donation attached to each jersey, we, unfortunately, can’t hold stock because if we have left over jerseys it will take away from the donations.  This will allow us to give the biggest donation possible! All orders will (try and) go to the factory every two weeks or when we have an order of ten jerseys and will take roughly three to five weeks for your jersey to arrive at your delivery address. You will receive an email about when it is going to the factory for manufacturing. This promotion will run from 12th of June till the end of July.

Who’s involved with this project:

Secret Dog Society - Vic Park Jersey

Club Gravity Canterbury has long been a staple in the Christchurch downhill and Enduro scene, organising races, events and trail building Gravity Canterbury

Texco has been involved in Victoria Park for as long as we can remember by donating their time and diggers to help build jumps, and trail clean up on the hill.  If you’re looking for a great company for your drilling, excavation, and earthworks solutions give Texco a call. Texco

Secret Dog Society, is a New Zealand made and based Mountain bike fashion company, designers of high-quality jerseys that make you look good on and off the bike. We have donated our design time, lowered the cost of our Long sleeve jerseys to $100 and from that donating $20 -$30 to the cause. Secret Dog Society
